Well I decided to grab another talking teacher off Ebay and bend it. This time I was aiming for a cleaner job and also to add a bunch of mods to it. That sounds like no big deal until you open the case to these suckers, there is ZERO room inside one. So I went about adding my standard 10 bends when I stumbled on a new one diagnosing a problem. The Talking Teacher (henceforth called TT) has an amazingly cool hold button, but it goes beyond the normal hold and allows “stutters” and random memory accesses. So I added a button on the right side so as you are hitting things you can add a glitch “hold”. Also to super expand it across the top back is going to be a single row of the female pin headers. It will have tiny Krynar wires running down it into a hole and the soldered to every pin in the system (that’s worth it) this combined with another female header on top which has 3 pots glued to it, 5 buttons, and a dipswitch/pot combo. It will allow you to module style connect up bends thus vastly expanding it. The dipswitch/pot combo is for a 10 step sequencer.

Current picture sans modularizing:

I know there has been an explosion of insaneness on the forums lately over Randal’s cases at SynthCase.com. Here are some quick pics of my case I got yesterday. I have not been able to properly put everything together, but just wanted to drop in a few modules and act silly and add two of my 128 Monomes at the bottom. The pics are really cheesy from my cellphone. Nothing is really tightly bolted together and the power supplies and distros are just sitting in the bottom of the case. Hopefully will have time tomorrow eve to finish it up.

I got the 8 channel 12-bit DAC soldered tonight and a 64 channel analogue input multiplexer done. So I just need to build the digital I/O mux/demux and then hook it all up. Then begin writing software all over again because of internal hardware system change. Will post pics tomorrow. The prototype is being mounted into a RadioShack enclosure. Actually two of them are being build so two of us here at AnalogueBus can work on different sections on the software. Only one of the prototypes will have the TKB/Programmer style manual gate for a track. Neither of them will use the final design of ball bearing matrix buttons and RGB LEDs with light pipes. The control surface is a whole different project due to complexity. We have two other styles of control surface though as backups.

It has been very hectic around AnalogueBus!! Along with our normal jobs and lives we try to squeeze every second into getting this company going. So far it is starting to go well. Several projects are now full steam ahead on the prototypes, contacts have been made in the industry, lots of learning has been done, built lots of cool stuff, and bought some new fun toys!

So the best way to sort of show what is going on really quickly is a bunch of pictures, I will come back and update later in several posts each project and its status.

So I got the eval board in so now I can hook it up to my controller and test it out with making some crazy patches on my modular. After that I will make a real prototype to plug into my A-100. Then I will begin work on the prototypes for the 16 channel attenuator sub-module for the patcher module and the prototype for the 64 jack pre/post mix signal insert sub-module for the patcher module. This is going to be a very cool module. The original idea to make this patch matrix came from the now discontinued Analogue Solutions Synapse http://www.cykong.com/Synths/AS%20Synapse/AS-Synapse.htm Ours is like it in most ways except that its a Eurorack module and its only 8×8 patch connections (64 total patches) compared to the semblance which had a 16×16. Also ours will be controlled by CV instead of MIDI and ours will also have a USB port to load/save patch configurations. Also ours like the semblance will have a system on the module to store/load patches so in this way it is like the Buchla Model 210e control and signal router. Ours will work with CV or Audio signals. It will have the two sub modules that allow you to pick 16 of the patch points to attenuate via pots and cv and a sub module to insert another signal pre/post patch.

Oh well enough chatter I got work to do and this does not explain the module well.

Here is a pic of the eval board for the analog crosspoint switch:

So we began our quest all over and first went out and purchased all the stuff we liked and stuff we saw people using and then for about six months we nothing but play with it No we think we are finally ready to do some work.
