Evaluation board for the 8×8 crosspoint patch module came in!!!

May 1, 2009

So I got the eval board in so now I can hook it up to my controller and test it out with making some crazy patches on my modular. After that I will make a real prototype to plug into my A-100. Then I will begin work on the prototypes for the 16 channel attenuator sub-module for the patcher module and the prototype for the 64 jack pre/post mix signal insert sub-module for the patcher module. This is going to be a very cool module. The original idea to make this patch matrix came from the now discontinued Analogue Solutions Synapse http://www.cykong.com/Synths/AS%20Synapse/AS-Synapse.htm Ours is like it in most ways except that its a Eurorack module and its only 8×8 patch connections (64 total patches) compared to the semblance which had a 16×16. Also ours will be controlled by CV instead of MIDI and ours will also have a USB port to load/save patch configurations. Also ours like the semblance will have a system on the module to store/load patches so in this way it is like the Buchla Model 210e control and signal router. Ours will work with CV or Audio signals. It will have the two sub modules that allow you to pick 16 of the patch points to attenuate via pots and cv and a sub module to insert another signal pre/post patch.

Oh well enough chatter I got work to do and this does not explain the module well.

Here is a pic of the eval board for the analog crosspoint switch:

  1. Very interested in this, as I’m considering DIYing a very similar thing using the MT8808 matrix switch. If you have made any headway on this project and you would like to share info or collaborate, pls get in touch: (replace.with.my.name) AT THE DOMAIN umatic.nl

    Best!
